Symmetry breaking of magnetic vortices before annihilation (APL Cover)

In this work we created two unique energy landscapes by applying a magnetic force field parallel and anti-parallel to to the vortex polarity. This lead to the breakdown of the rotational symmetry of the vortex state into unique asymmetric identities.

Coherence and modality of driven interlayer-coupled magnetic vortices - Nature Communications

In this work we directly observed the effects of fundamental magnetic interactions between two driven magnetic vortices. See the press release below for a more general explanation. The figure on above is the magnetic signal of two vortex cores (radius ~10nm) reconstructed from an experimental Lorentz image of a multilayered nano-disc during a quasi-static magnetic field sweep.
